Hi Kristen!Michelle showed me your article and I think the difficulties you mention are characteristic of many colleges and universities.I have found that at Columbia, the institution is also “deceptively supportive,” with a plethora of resources available but with access to them being quite difficult.I love this part of your writing in particular: “There is no mythical “Williams College” that will catch you every time you fall. When you get here, the only thing saving you from yourself – the only one who can build any kind of support system for you – is, ultimately, yourself.”Perhaps we need to be pushed to this sort of independence in order to transition into adulthood; perhaps it is for the better.Just some thoughts… Beautiful piece!~David
